Engagement

We got engaged on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Eaux Claires Music Festival.

This music festival is a special place for us.  It was started in 2015 by the lead singer of our favorite band, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver.  He curates a festival of national and lesser known-acts at secluded festival grounds in his hometown of Eau Claire, WI.

We have attended this two day festive every year together, where we listen to some of our favorite artists (Bon Iver, The National, Low, Spoon, and Frances and the Lights) and learn about some new acts each year (Sylvan Esso, S. Carey, Jenny Lewis, and The Staves).

At the 2017 festival, we headed into the woods to see a capella act, Mountain Man, three lady singers performing among the pine trees.  After the show, we followed the private pine path through the woods until we came to a lovely (and very green) pond , where Nate proposed.  Mel was so surprised she jumped 10 feet back but immediately said yes.  We spent the rest of the day sitting together in the grass, enjoying the music and the moment.
